Breaktime / Overtime - The Supercake
Breaktime/Overtime The Supercake is a longitudinal collaboration with a group of middle-aged immigrant women with whom artist Eugenio Salas worked for four years at a cake factory in London, where they produced 3500 cakes per shift. Together they reimagined the production line and reconfigured its production logic as a way to reclaim artistic agency to produce The Supercake, a 22-foot long edible sculpture / installation.
The Supercake was supported by a grant from the Ontario Arts Council and co-sponsored by McIntosh Gallery and Trinity United Church.
