Waste Feast/Fogones

Waste Feast/Fogones, is a participatory art project informed by environmental justice that was originated by Eugenio Salas during the 2021 Recycled Art in Residency (RAIR) program. The intention of Fogones was to establish links between stakeholders across the food system to come up with sustainable solutions rooted in the communities that have historically been employed as cheap labor in our food system. During the residency, Salas collaborated with immigrant laborers and cooks to design, construct, and prepare food in a cooking sculpture made from waste materials.

Waste Feast/Fogones was kindly supported by Canada Council for the Arts.
